DEFENDING BLACK AMERICA

The Klan rides again.

In the Pentagon. At the Justice Department. All over the government, ACTUAL white supremacists are trying to nullify the hard-fought gains of the Civil Rights Movement.

Whether it’s firing HIGHLY QUALIFIED Black career civil servants, restoring Confederate statues and icons while erasing Black heroes, creating an immigration pathway for white Afrikaners while denying entry to legal refugees from Black African nations, we see the most racist administration in modern history.

Every day – and totally without evidence – they are blaming D.E.I. initiatives for all the ills facing America.

As chair of the Illinois Senate Black Legislative Caucus, Senator Preston HAS NOT FALTERED in defending Black lives and security throughout Illinois.
This includes his LONE fight to save the Second Congressional District from losing Black voters to fuel a mid-decade redistricting push sought for by Democratic Party leaders – unwisely, Willie has argued, because it dilutes Black political power.

While other Black candidates for the Second District sat in silent cowardice – willing to betray the Black residents of the very district they want to represent – Senator Preston has been willing to stand up for our communities.

In Congress Willie Will Fight For:

RESTORATION of protections from the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which are about to be gutted once more by the radical U.S. Supreme Court and support for the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

REPAIRING diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives throughout the military and federal government, recognizing that institution racism is NOT a hoax.

INVESTMENT in Black and minority-owned businesses via direct contracting requirements and enabled by increased funding for Minority-Serving Community Development Financial Institutions to enable more access to capital for these businesses.

TACKLING RACIAL BIAS throughout this country by denying federal contracts to institutions and police agencies that do not implement training and accountability measures to protect racial minorities.
